The workshop will cover the following topics:
- Create a compelling profile with compelling content and that is loaded with you skills (keywords) to ensure your profile is found by other users (HR, Recruiters, and Hiring Managers)
- Create a background image at the top your profile that relates what you do
- Create a head shot photo to put at the top of your profile
a. Only include yourself in the picture
b. Dress business casual or business forma
c. Profiles with a photo are 60% more likely to be viewed - Learn how to customize your LinkedIn profile URL
- Create a powerful Headline that has your job title, significant skills (keywords), and your 5-7 word brand in it that will help ensure your profile is found by others
- Learn how to create the Open to Work banner on the bottom left of your photo that tells other users and/or recruiters you’re looking for a new job
a. Go to Open to Work section under your Headline and click on the ~~Edit~~ pencil.
b. Fill in all the fields and then go to the Recruiters only.
c. Then click on the down
d. arrow and select either All LinkedIn Members or Recruiters Only
e. Recruiter’s Only is the wise choice because you don’t want your manager, HR, or a C-Level Exec to see this and thinking your ready to jump ship.
f. If they think this, you might lose a promotion/raise or get laid off if a layoff were to occur. - Learn how to create an About section containing your personal brand and a related achievement
- Understand the value of the stats in the Analytics section
- Learn how to use the Featured section to showcase your Work Samples
- See how to access all your Posts, Events, Articles, etc.in this section
- In the Experience section, put all the skills related to each job at the end of each job's description.
- Learn why you don't want to include graduation dates in the Education section
- Learn how to add all your skills (an common synonyms for them) to your Skills section
- Learn how to add Optional sections to your profile
- See how to both give and get recommendations from your level 1 connections
- See how to Follow one of your Level 1 connections and how to Unfollow a connection of you no longer find their information useful
- Learn how to send Messages to one of your Level 1 connections or send a message to multiple people via one Message
- Learn how to access LinkedIn Help to submit a trouble ticket and then follow the responses provided by the LinkedIn support team
- Learn how to use Boolean Searches to get the exact search results you want
- Use the LinkedIn Search Box to find information related to your search criteria and remember that the search produces 9 categories of results (People Company, Jobs, Posts, Schools, Courses, events, groups and Services)
- See how to create a Spanish version of your profile
- Use the Home tab to publish Photos, Videos, Events, Articles, and Posts
- Learn how to control where you shows up in search results using by understanding how the LinkedIn Search Algorithm works
- Learn how to access Settings & Privacy to change settings that control how LinkedIn works for you
- Use the My Network tab to quickly build up your network to over 500 (So you're considered a serious player to other LinkedIn Users
- Use the Jobs tab to find and apply for jobs that are right for you
- Use the Messaging tab to read made messages sent to you by other users
- Use the Notifications tab to see posts sent to you by other users or by LinkedIn
- Use the Work tab to access other LinkedIn tools that you must pay for to access them
