Tampa Writers Alliance Critique Group

Details
About 15-20 TWA members gather and review hard copies of manuscripts previously submitted and scheduled for review. Works are scheduled by the Critique Group Facilitator. Author receives individually reviewed copies with edit, structure, and tone notes from each participating member at the end of session. We review three works of 2500-3500 words each per meeting. Please be on time as we have a lot of ground to cover. Each member has 2-3 minutes to go over highlights of his or her review for the group's benefit.
Only dues-paying members are entitled to have works reviewed. Annual membership is $35. Checks payable to: TWA, P.O. Box 100, Odessa, Fl 33556. Or pay at a critique meeting.
Please contact our Facilitator/Coordinator for submission requirements and formatting procedures. We adhere to the same submission guidelines expected by publishers. Contact Tampawriter@Centurylink.net. for the info.
Visitors are welcome to attend but only members' works will be discussed, generally 4-5 pieces per session. Works to be critiqued are shared with Tampa Writers Alliance members approximately two weeks before the next scheduled meeting. The author has a chance to respond after verbal critiques are finished. Emphasis is on "constructive criticism." We're striving to become better writers, not at tearing people up.
If you would like to attend the Critique Group and give it a once-over, it is best to let the coordinator know ahead of time to allow time to ensure copies of submitted pieces being critiqued are available to you. Otherwise, it's sometimes difficult to make complete sense out of what people are saying about the submissions. Such notification, however, is not a requirement. You're always welcome.
