What we're about

The Tampa 912 Project is a 2,000+ member volunteer non-profit organization that promotes civic education and advocacy in the Tampa area. The Tampa 912 Project holds classes on history, politics, economics and current events, hosts candidate forums and debates, conducts research, and promotes social welfare. We hold our government accountable to upholding the Constitution of the United States of America and we favor economic freedom, a constitutionally limited government, and less taxation and government spending.

We believe in these 9 Principles and 12 values

1. America is good.

2. I believe in God and He is the Center of my Life.

3. I must always try to be a more honest person than I was yesterday.

4. The family is sacred.

5. If you break the law you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and no one is above it.

6. I have a right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, but there is no guarantee of equal results.

7. I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to.

8. It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion.

9. The government works for me. I do not answer to them, they answer to me.

12 Values: Honesty, Reverence, Hope, Thrift, Humility, Charity, Sincerity, Moderation, Hard Work, Courage, Personal Responsibility, and Gratitude.

7th Annual TAMPA 9/12 INDEPENDENCE DAY INDOOR PICNIC (IDIP7)

American Legion: USS Tampa Post No 5

Since 2013, the Tampa 9/12 has celebrated our American Independence by bringing the classic All-American summer picnic indoors (to avoid the Florida heat, humidity, thunderstorms, and insectivorous attacks!) Red and white checkered table cloths, hamburgers and hotdogs on the grill, macaroni and potato salad, baked beans, lemonade, ice tea, a galvanized tub of ice-cold Coca-Cola (in glass bottles!), desserts of all sorts, and watermelon on the rind will all be on hand. Again this year, we are pleased to announce that Mr. Thomas Jefferson will attend our picnic. I believe he intends to talk a bit about The Declaration - its meaning and providing us some historical notes - as well as giving us his traditional recitation of the document. And to finish-off the afternoon, we will again have our indoor "fireworks" display that you won't want to miss! This is a FREE event, and the Tampa 9/12 will provide the hotdogs, hamburgers, and drinks. But if everyone could bring a side dish, be it baked beans, potato/macaroni/green salad, potato chips, dessert of any sort... you know the drill. ONE CHANGE FOR THIS YEAR: We have something special planned, and will be asking for a $5 donation by each adult in attendance, in exchange for 5 "gold" coins. Use of the coins during the afternoon will be fun and educational! So gather-up the kids, grand-kids, friends, and neighbors... join us on Independence Day to celebrate the birth of a truly great Nation with good food and good friends... without the heat, humidity, and thunderstorms. Please RSVP ASAP so we'll have enough burgers, dogs, and Cokes!
