Design has a huge impact on the usability and usefulness of anything and everything. We know that user-centered design produces usable products and services. Whether or not something is usable has significant potential to make our day better or worse. Sometimes, our lives even depend on it.

Tampa Bay's Event: How to Avoid 'Accidentally Evil' Design Workshop
For our local event, we'll focus on how we - as designers, developers, researchers, product people and other UXers - can be 'accidentally evil' when we create user experiences. This event will be interactive with a round of mini-workshop sessions where we'll discover the unconscious biases, tendencies and beliefs that end up into our work, and therefore, into the user experiences we create.

It is about celebration and education—celebrating the strides we have made in creating usable products and educating the masses about how usability impacts our daily lives. It is about reaching out to the common citizen and spreading the message: We don’t have to put up with products and services that don’t work well and that human error is a misnomer.

No one should have to suffer through products and services that get in their way. People should not be made to feel stupid by technology.
