In this panel discussion, we will hear from local UXers that have recently landed a new UX-related job. You will get to listen to their stories about how they went about finding a job, the application and interview process, and if expectations have met reality since they've started working.

Meet Our Panelists (subject to change)
Erica Smith
Erica is a bilingual UX Researcher at The World Bank. After spending years in education, working both locally and in Spain, Erica transitioned into UX Design by completing an immersive bootcamp with General Assembly. Having navigated a challenging job search, Erica is passionate about mentoring and inspiring others who aspire to change careers and enter the UX field. She aims to provide insights into the realities of job searching and encourage others to persevere despite challenges.

Tiffani Holland
Tiffani is UX Designer at SalonCentric, a subsidiary of L'OREAL. With experience in heuristic evaluations, website redesigns, and website development. Drawing from her years as an educator and part-time freelance graphic designer, she offers a unique perspective on how to create value as a designer in a saturated market. Tiffani's journey into UX Design enables her to shed light on the challenges and opportunities surrounding UX, providing insights on how to grow your skills as a designer, get your hands on real world projects, and networking that creates value.

Lia Janeiro
Lia is a multidisciplinary UX and Web Designer at Nextiny Marketing. She has a degree in Animation from the University of Tampa and a professional background in Motion Graphics Design. She recently completed General Assembly’s immersive UX program, and is now combining her love for visual design with analytical thinking to create functional websites. Lia loves to advocate for the importance of UX and how transitioning from a non-traditional background into the field can actually be beneficial. She hopes to mentor designers in the future and is excited to keep growing in the field.

Andrew Arquines
Andrew is a UX Designer at Cirkul, where he drives UX strategy and education across teams, leading impactful projects like a homepage redesign that boosted conversion rates by 3% and reduced bounce rates by 20%. His journey into UX began as a martial arts school owner who provided insights to emerging SaaS products, which sparked his interest in UX design. Passionate about problem-solving, Andrew loves exploring creative solutions and is motivated by the potential for continuous learning. He advises aspiring designers to master the fundamentals, learn front-end coding, and confidently advocate for their ideas. Looking ahead, he aims to explore opportunities abroad, delve into the gaming industry, and continue growing in dynamic, collaborative environments.
