What we’re about

Tankata percussion are proud to launch the new High Wycombe drumming experience.

A community and accessibility focussed percussion group.

Studying traditional rhythms from around the world including West Africa, Afro Cuban, Brazilian and European styles. We study, support and honour the traditions and cultures these rhythms come from whilst at the same time not being afraid to adapt the music to maximise accessibility for any physical or neurological differences the beautifully diverse human race has because we here at Tankata believe that for every person we have drumming and taking part in music the world is a better place.

Every week we study and practise some of the most popular rhythms with the opportunity to play Djembe, Dunun, Congas and frame drums with a wide selection of smaller percussion like Shekeres and cowbells there is always a part to play regardless of experience.

Parts range from simplified melodic patterns played on frame drums to bass pounding parts on the Dununs all the way up to fast-flowing solo parts on Djembe, we have something for everyone.

Tankata is a safe space for everyone to experience the joys of music.
The lesson is 2 hours long every Tuesday From 7:30pm-9:30pm The cost is £10 for the main session. Concessions are available, please contact me if money or any other accessibility is an issue.

We have regular opportunities to perform and jam being part of a much larger global drumming community with numerous woodland drum circles during the summer all of which is free to attend.
