Tankata Percussion is a friendly group that plays and studies traditional rhythms from West Africa with classes both here in Wycombe and in Reading fosussing in particular on Djembe and Dunun Rhythms from the Malinke peoples and tribes.

These are music lessons for those interested in taking and developing their skills on the Djembe or Dunun as a musical instrument. The material you will learn is in line with the larger Djembe music tradition and will allow you to progress your playing in larger groups/workshops with Indigenous teachers, whether here in the UK or as part of the global Djembe study movement emanating from West Africa.

The time-tested system we explore offers the swiftest path to honing your skills and expressive abilities on the Djembe and Dunun drums, regardless of whether you're performing in a traditional context.
This system, honed over centuries in the heartland of Djembe, West Africa, seamlessly complements and elevates any other musical techniques you may have acquired.

We've been part of the Readipop charity for over fifteen years and your support of this workshop also helps support the charity and helps us to use music to change people's lives positively through music.

This is a mixed level workshop please arrive as promptly as you can if you are a beginner.
