Tour de[s] Mountains - Sparta, NC

The Tour de Mountains offers 40, 60, and 100 mile routes. I've done the full century, with 11,500' of cumulative elevation, the last three years and a modified 50-mile route (5000' el.) four years ago. The 2021 and 2024 rides were with my twentysomething daughter (photos from 2021 ride). This year, I'm planning to do the 60 (5800') at about the effort of a 15-16mph solo ride around CH, yielding a 12-13mph pace in the hilly terrain. Faster, slower, shorter distance, and longer distance riders welcome.

Jagged, sawtooth profile doesn't allow for much drafting--either struggling up climbs of 0.5-1.5 miles or plummeting down the other sides--but it would be fun to ride with others. Beautiful, quiet country roads with usually friendly drivers.
