C pace (13-14mph) ride (30.3 mi) - Sat. June 20, 9:10am - Wilson Park
Details
Ride leader (Rob) plans to maintain around a 13mph average pace (although that can vary up to 14mph or so). Faster riders are welcome to start with us and form your own group. Slower riders will ride with Rob.
Please remember to stick with at least one other rider so that we don't lose track of people.
We will depart after the faster rides leave - our departure will be 9:10am. and we will have a longer route today of 30 miles. Temperatures will be in the 70's with moderately low humidity. It will be 79 or 80 at the finish.
We will ride between 12-13mph as we head out from the park until the traffic light at Fayetteville Rd to make sure everyone is warmed up.
Faster riders may choose to head out at a faster pace. Riders who form a separate group, or who leave the ride, are kindly asked to notify the ride leader so we don't spend time looking for you.
We'll start the ride with introductions and sharing favorite safety tips, so come prepared! Look for us at the lower level parking lot.
Rest stop at the halfway point - on Vernon Road at the hill in the shade next to the horse pasture.
Please respond to this posting with RSVP so leaders can know estimate of attendees and notify you of any updates due to weather, etc.
We'll have a few cue sheets, but please print one or download the route to your device. This ride is not for the new or inexperienced rider. You should have a road bike, be able to follow a cue sheet, be comfortable riding in a group, and managing personal hydration/nutrition.
As a note, this ride is on paved roads. We will ride with vehicular traffic. Let's ride in single file on busier roads, and if you hear "Car Back!", please interpret this to mean "single file, please". Additionally, please have a functioning front (white) and rear (red) light. The "Day Flash" or "Random Flash" settings seem to be the best at maintaining our visibility to drivers.
The route is on Carolina Tarwheels home page, and here are the links:

This is a no-drop ride. We will meet back up at the next road intersection if someone is missing and wait.
Please also have a cue sheet or have downloaded the route. I may have a couple of extra cue sheets available, please ask me.
If you have not recently looked over our ride policies, please take a moment to consult:

If you have not already done so, please take a minute to electronically fill out the 2026 Tarwheels ride waiver before coming out to the ride.
Current Tarwheels members need only do this ONCE a YEAR. NON MEMBERS are required to do this before EACH RIDE, so please consider becoming a member and save yourself the hassle.
