Tauranga Bitcoin Meetup has been bringing people together since 2017 to discuss Bitcoin, blockchain technology and the rapidly changing world of digital assets.
For many years we met in person around Tauranga. Those meetings built a strong local community, but they also limited participation to people who could travel to a particular place at a particular time.
As interest in the meetup grew, it became clear that many people wanted to join from outside Tauranga—or even from overseas. Rather than moving to a third-party meeting service, I decided to build one specifically for our community.
The result is BsvMeet, a browser-based meeting platform developed as part of the BsvBsv project. It allows anyone to join our discussions from anywhere in the world with a simple link, while keeping the same open, interactive format that has been part of the meetup since 2017.
Today, the Tauranga Bitcoin Meetup remains true to its original purpose—bringing people together to learn, discuss and explore Bitcoin—but without the geographical limitations of a physical venue.
