Purpose:
The primary purpose of a Community Paddlesports Leadership course is to certify individuals to safely, effectively, and confidently lead group day excursions in calm or mild-water environments. It transitions paddlers from focusing on personal skills to mastering group management, risk assessment, and trip planning.

Audience:
Outdoor Organization Staff: Camp counselors, non-profit guides, and university trip coordinators.
Community & Club Organizers: Meetup organizers, parks and recreation staff, local paddling club leaders, and scout leaders.
Hobbyists: Casual paddlers who want the formal training to take friends and family members out on the water safely.

Certification value: The ACA's CommunityPaddlesports Leader certification equips individuals with trip planning and on-the-water basic skills. It is designed to allow staff, club members, and volunteers to confidently and safely lead beginner-friendly day excursions on calm, sheltered waters for various craft like kayaks, canoes, and stand-up paddleboards.
