Improvised Time Travel
Course information: structures for building improvised stories that jump through time.

Level Intermediate / Advanced Length 3 hours

About the course
Almost all the improv we do runs in a straight line: one scene after another, always forward. This course gives you tools to break that
line without the story falling apart. By the end, you will know how to set out for the audience the rules of time the story lives by, how
to hold those rules across a whole show, and how to return to an earlier scene without losing a single detail of what happened in it.
It trains three specific muscles: scene memory, live justification and group listening. These skills are not confined to time travel
stories: they improve any scene involving a flashback, a leap of years, a memory or a promise to be kept later on.

Who it is for
Improvisers with some previous experience, ideally around two years of practice. This is not a hard requirement: if you have less time
behind you but want to get into complex structures, you are welcome. What matters is feeling comfortable holding a scene with
another person, because the course moves quickly and builds on that base.

Apres-improv Socializing
After the workshop, students can walk to a nearby restaurant for food, drink and conversation, so it's educational and social!

The Improv Foundation Workshops are open workshops, so any native-level English speaker is free to come and give it a try.
