IoT, Industrial Internet, Docker Containers on AWS

Details

Join us for our November meetup with three awesome speakers who will focus on the Internet of Things, Docker Containers on AWS, Over The Air and more. 1. How Octoblu’s IoT platform is using Docker in AWS to manage micro services and user automation flows by Chris Matthieu, Director IoT at Citrix.

Chris Matthieu is the co-founder and CTO of Octoblu, a revolutionary real-time IoT platform recently acquired by Citrix. Octoblu connects things, systems, people and clouds to a global mesh network allowing users to automate and control design flows, processes and sensor data, and analyze/react to real-time events and messages as well as big data trends and anomalies. Prior to co-founding Octoblu, Chris was the founder of Nodester, an open-source Node.JS PaaS which was acquired by AppFog and the founder of Teleku, a communications-as-a-service cloud platform which was acquired by Voxeo.
2. Can Cloud Foundry speak the language of Industrial Internet? by Vineet Banga, GE.

GE is using Cloud Foundry as the PaaS layer for its Predix Industrial Internet platform. Cloud Foundry is inherently limited to HTTP protocol, which is insufficient for industrial internet assets/applications. Industrial internet is filled with non-HTTP protocols such as MQTT, COAP, DDS etc. This talk will provide a brief introduction to few of these protocols, and evaluate the current connectivity support on CF to understand what is possible today and also look at what is in store in the future.

Vineet Banga is a Senior Software Manager at GE Software. He leads the application security team which is responsible for building and hosting security services for the Predix Platform – GE’s Platform for the Industrial Internet . He also manages the team of engineers that makes contributions to the Cloud Foundry open source project. Vineet has over seventeen years of industry experience, with deep expertise in cloud architecture & data center management software. He has a Masters degree in Computer engineering from San Jose State University and a certificate in engineering leadership from UC Berkeley. Thank you GE for hosting us!
