About us
This is quite a difficult post for me to write, but sometimes you have to take that first step and put yourself out there.
Over the last few years, I've been through a difficult period in life, including divorce and work-related challenges. Sometimes it feels like everything comes at once, and somewhere along the way, I've found myself feeling quite isolated. It's been a few years of not really having people to talk to, and although I know everyone has their own lives, responsibilities and commitments, I think we can all underestimate how much a simple conversation or a bit of company can mean to someone.
Reaching out isn't always easy, particularly in different cultures, where we don't always feel comfortable talking about loneliness or admitting that we'd like to meet new people.
But I think there's something quite powerful about being honest and making an effort to change things. So, here goes!
I'd love to start a little Coffee & Tea Club ☕🫖, meeting twice a month at two different locations:
📍 East London – Dagenham
Costa Coffee, East, Drive Thru, Unit 1C, London, Dagenham RM10 7FQ.
📍 Central London – Soho
Costa Coffee, 14 Great Marlborough Street, Soho, London W1F 7HP, just behind Oxford Circus Station.
The idea is simple: meet up, have a coffee or tea, chat about life, share experiences, have a laugh, a chuckle, and enjoy some good company. No pressure, no expectations, and no need to pretend that life is always perfect.
I'd love to bring together a mix of people from all walks of life and all age groups, from younger adults to older generations, both male and female. We all have different experiences, perspectives and stories to share, and I think we'd have some brilliant conversations if we brought those differences together.
This isn't about having everything in common or needing to know anyone beforehand. It's about creating a friendly, welcoming space where people can turn up as themselves, get to know others, share a few laughs and hopefully leave feeling a little better than when they arrived. If I'm being honest, it's something I know I need myself, and I imagine there may be others out there who feel the same way.
Sometimes, a bit of company, a good conversation and a few laughs can make a real difference.
As a dad, I'd also love to connect with other parents. Being a father can sometimes feel quite isolating in itself, and it would be great to meet other parents, share experiences and perhaps even organise the odd playdate. I may bring my daughter along to a meet-up or two as well.
Ultimately, I'm just looking for good people, genuine conversations, friendship and a bit of positivity. Life can be challenging enough without feeling like we're going through it all on our own.
If you're new to London, working from home, going through a life change, looking to expand your social circle, or simply fancy meeting some new people over a coffee, you're more than welcome.
You don't need to have a particular story or reason for coming. Just bring yourself.
I'm looking to organise our first meet-up on Saturday 24 October at Costa Coffee in Dagenham.
If this sounds like something you'd be interested in, please join or send me a message. Even if you're a little nervous about coming along, just like I am about writing this post, you're not alone in feeling that way.
Let's see if we can build something positive together. ❤️☕
