Details

This is a walk along the Roseland coast and creeks opposite St Mawes, passing the preserved fort and Fraggle Rock lighthouse on St Anthony Head. It is an easy/moderate circular walk that is just under 6 miles.

This walk can be found on the iWalk Cornwall web site. Here is what it says on the website:

"The walk starts along the Roseland coast from Towan Beach to Zone Point. The route then passes around St Anthony Head - the tip of the Roseland peninsula, passing the fort and lighthouse featured in Fraggle Rock. The route follows the coast into Carrick Roads past the sandy beaches of Molunan to Carricknath Point. The walk then follows the creeks of the Percuil River opposite St Mawes to complete the circular route."

The iWalk is clockwise, but it is also really nice walking in the antoclockwise direction, which is what we will do this Saturday.

Full details of the walk can be printed for free, you can also download the walk into the iWalk Cornwall app. for £2.99

Please bring all the usual, sensible shoes, jacket in case of rain (rain in not forecast), sun lotion, packed lunch, drink, camera, money for Porth Farm, National Trust car park. Also be aware that if the toilets are closed, you may have to use a wild alternative.

Guests and well behaved dogs are welcome.

People coming from west of Truro will need to come via the King Harry Ferry. The cost for a car day return is about £10. As an alternative you can drive around through Tresillian etc, it just takes a bit longer.

Parking at Porth Farm is National Trust, that is quite expensive too. If you have a National Trust card please bring it.

Please offer a lift if you can.

Driving on the Roseland can also be slow. Please allow plenty of time for the drive and the ferry crossing to arrive at 10:30 for an 10:40 start. I usually drive the long way around but I think this time I will take the ferry.

I am still collecting the £1 coins for the Meetup fees. If you can bring one, it would be much appreciated. Thank you.
