We meet for drinks on the 1st Friday of each month - via Zoom.
Details
Typically, 6 to 10 or so women will gather from 4:30-6 p.m.
We used to meet at a pub but because of COVID, we started drinking together via Zoom - BYOB!
Now we are finding that former members who have moved out of the area are able to join from wherever they are AND new members from other parts of the country have found us virtually as well.
We enjoy drinks – anything from margaritas to herb tea. We talk about work, and kids, and school, and the economy, vacations and family and the weather – and yeah, we often talk about cancer, too.
Cancer and womanhood are our common bonds. We support one another as only women can – with a sympathetic ear, a warm (virtual) hug, and advice: LOTS of advice. Having a mastectomy? Don’t forget your front-buttoning shirt. Radiation? Here’s the BEST lotion for afterwards. Reconstruction? “I had a TRAM, but Ellen had a DIEP...”
TGIF is an incredibly vital (and just as informal) support group – as Amy often says, a “support group without the social worker.” Mostly, we just enjoy one another’s company – and draw strength from each other.
