After a year of facilitating value stream mapping initiatives across multiple technology teams, this talk presents a collection of case studies examining what drove teams to adopt VSM, the discoveries they made, and the results they achieved. From reducing waste and lead times to improving cross-functional collaboration, we’ll cover the common patterns that emerged across different organizational contexts.
But it wasn't all success stories. We'll also examine initiatives that fell short of expectations, teams that struggled with adoption, and workshops that didn't land as intended. These challenges revealed valuable lessons about when VSM works best, common pitfalls to avoid, and the organizational conditions that set teams up for success or failure.

Miguel Dias (Technology Consultant) is a Software Engineer with over five years of experience, building and scaling systems for large companies, startups, and a nonprofit. Miguel spent 2024 leading multiple Value Stream Mapping initiatives at Relex, a global SaaS company. He’s helped teams onboard customers faster, prevent service disruptions, deliver value more often, and waste less time day-to-day.
