Session #9- Covid-19, Ethics and Contact Tracing Tech

Details
Covid-19 poses many ethical problems for society, forcing us to choose between individual freedoms and the health of the population. Different countries have chosen different strategies and ethical trade-offs. One of the more interesting tools we're seeing is contact tracing technology. Could people be allowed to move more freely if we knew who they were meeting? And how would we ethically obtain and use this information?
James Kingston is involved in building a contact-tracing and risk-scoring app. He has a background in both law and AI and is currently Deputy Director of the HATLAB, the innovation lab for the HAT data rights ecosystem. In this session he'll guide us through the ethics of responses to covid-19 and the ethics of contact tracing in particular.
