9 steps for better Object Oriented Design - a hands-on lab

Details

Ever considered of how would Object Oriented code would look like if there were no getters/setters in your language?

In this hands-on meetup, we will experience just that. And 8 other design principles for "better" Object Oriented code. Come, and challenge your thinking - being open minded to try something different, can have a lasting effect on your own codebase.

As with #techExcellence hands-on meetups, we practice pair programming. That is, there's one computer for a pair - and you both can do coding. Together. You can choose the language you want - as long as it support object orientation (e.g. Haskell would make this exercise void).

To setup your computer, clone this repo with empty project hopefully in your favorite language:

Doors will open at 17:00 with some snacks - short presentation about Visma Solutions - we wish to start programming at 17:30 sharp to give us a bit more legroom for the practice. By 19:30 we have had a short retro/wrap up and are ready to head home.

We reserve 3 spots for DEI tickets - if you find yourself in waiting list and want to join, just reach out to aki@rinkkasatiainen.fi - and we'll secure you a spot. The unused DEI tickets are given to the waiting list around 2days before the event.

We follow the Agile Finland Code of Conduct, please read it here: https://www.agile.fi/about/code-of-conduct/
