As usual, we'll come together for food and beer and a little talk on what Celia and Paul have been up to with the Tekkatho foundation.

Talk to us on #techforgoodlive @techforgoodlive (http://www.twitter.com/techforgoodlive)

Our Fine Speakers:

Paul Murphy from Cooperatives UK (https://www.uk.coop/) and Celia Russell from Jisc (https://www.jisc.ac.uk/). They are co-founders and trustees of the Tekkatho Foundation (http://www.tekkatho.foundation/).

Celia and Paul will be talking about the eTekkatho project, which is building digital libraries at universities in Myanmar/Burma. Education came close to collapse during the 50 years of military rule in Myanmar, and restoring schools and universities is now a priority for the new democratic government. The eTekkatho project has built digital libraries at 22 universities and 6 community libraries across the country, with many more to go. We’ll be talking about how, with a bit of adaption, digital technologies can bring about educational change even in places with terrible connectivity.

More TBC - if you want to talk or know of someone good, let us know.

Lightning talks:

We'll also have space for brief "lightning" talks on the night, where anyone will have a chance to speak for up to 3 minutes on something that helps more people do good with tech.

Sponsors:

Reason Digital (http://www.reasondigital.com/) have helped us arrange the event, provided admin support and even made our lovely brand. So big thanks to them.

And 34SP (http://34sp.com/) continue to support us by grabbing the bill! Thanks team! Expect the usual amazing beer and pizza selection.

There is a limit on numbers for this event - so if you can't make it, please let us know so someone else can come instead. You will need to have registered on the meet up group to come in I'm afraid. Sorry, we need to manage numbers.

See you there!

Josh, Bex, Jonny, Paul, Ian and Mille.
