How to build productive product and engineering teams

It's not always easy to know if your team is being productive. Are you prioritizing the right things? How do you decide what to do first? These are questions that many product and engineering teams struggle with. To help us figure this out, we're excited to welcome Elle Meredith and Lachlan Hardy. They'll lead a discussion about what being productive really means for our teams.

Elle and Lachlan will help us think about:

  • What does being productive mean for our specific team?
  • How do we know we're focusing on the right tasks?
  • What metrics make the most sense for us to track?
  • How can we improve the way we work?

Feel free to bring up any issues you're facing in your team – we'll work through them together. We’ll also have ample time for Q&A with Elle and Lachlan – but also send us your questions in advance or bring them to the event.

About the speakers

Elle Meredith runs Blackmill, a company that helps tech teams work better. She's done a lot of cool things in her career:

  • Helped big companies like ANZ and Qantas improve their tech teams
  • Organized meetups for women in tech in New York City
  • Helped run big tech conferences in Australia and the US
  • Taught coding to women through Rails Girls Sydney

Lachlan Hardy started Blackmill with Elle. He's worked with many different tech teams over the years:

  • Led teams at companies like GitHub, Microsoft, and Atlassian
  • Helped organize tech events in Australia and the US
  • Ran a shared workspace for tech folks in Sydney
  • Has been part of the Australian tech community for a long time

Both Elle and Lachlan really care about making tech teams work better and helping people enjoy their jobs more. They're excited to chat with us and help us think about how we can be more productive in ways that actually make sense for your team.
