Topic of Main Talk - The Pseudo CTO

Modern organisations demand fast execution and continuous delivery, yet many struggle to achieve this due to fragmentation, constrained capacity, and competing priorities across technology teams. As responsibility spreads across platforms, data, AI, infrastructure, and security, coordination becomes just as critical as technical depth.

In many organisations, a small number of technologists step into this gap by necessity rather than design. They span domains, remain deeply technical, and act as a unifying force between strategy and execution. I call this the Pseudo CTO.

This talk explores why this capability matters, how it shows up in real organisations, and why leaders who identify and nurture it may unlock faster execution, stronger alignment, and more resilient technology outcomes.

Adit Mehta is the Head of MLOps at Discovery Bank and has spent the past decade working in technology, primarily building AI products across both startups and large enterprises. He is passionate about the intersection of data, technology, and values-based leadership, and is particularly interested in how modern organisations navigate complexity while still creating quality technology at speed.
