Designing systems, habits and delegation that scale your leadership.

Engineering leadership is a uniquely overloaded role, you're simultaneously holding context across your team's work, navigating stakeholder relationships, managing growth and performance,contributing to strategy, and staying close enough to the technical detail to make good decisions. In this talk, Steve Bissett explores practical approaches to reducing cognitive load through better systems, deliberate habits, and smarter delegation. Drawing on experience managing diverse, distributed teams, Steve shares lessons on designing the structures that free you to lead rather than react, withactionable takeaways both for engineering leaders looking to scale themselves, and for anyone mentoring engineers or EMs on that path.

Steve Bissett is a Senior Engineering Manager at Zappi, where he helps businesses make smarter decisions about advertising and new products. A people-first leader with 12 years of experience across Engineering Management, Product Management, and Software Engineering, Steve is passionate about building high-trust, high-performing teams in which engineers can do their best work. He has deep experience leading remote, hybrid and globally distributed teams, and is a strong advocate for sustainable ways of working strongly aligned to customer and business value.
