Learning from failure

Join us at Bragg on Wednesday, September 24 at 18:00 for an honest and engaging evening with fellow tech leads.

This time we will shine a light on stories of failure, looking at what went wrong, why it went wrong, and what was learned in the process. Speakers will share their experiences in 15-minute talks, opening the floor for reflection, discussion, and a few laughs at the missteps that shaped stronger teams and better leadership.

Jure Vizjak from 3fs will talk about misaligned communication and expectations. He will share how frustration built up when these issues were not addressed and how applying radical candor and clear feedback helped reset the situation and move the team forward.

Martin Jakomin from Teads will share how ‘move fast and break things’ played out in real life with testing in production, failures and the hard-earned lessons that followed.

Simon Jazbar from Boerse Stuttgart Digital will explore the impact a bad team lead can have, sharing a challenging experience where leadership went wrong and how the team worked to turn things around.

And Dejan Petelin from Pareto AI will talk about the challenges of (not) scaling yourself and your team in a fast-growing company. He will share lessons from restructuring a centralized team into a decentralized one, a delayed ‘Head of’ hire, and misaligned goals during the rollout of a recommendation engine.
