====

There is no doubt engineering is complex and companies are trying to find the ways to manage their engineering teams properly. Engineering management brings together the technological problem-solving ability of engineering and the organizational, administrative, and planning abilities of management.

During this TechLunch we will consider this topic from the different edges from different points of view. For this, we are happy to welcome 3 experienced experts for this TechLunch from Criteo, FutureLearn and Algolia, and each of them will talk for 15 mins about their practices and insides of working with their mobile squads.

Speakers
• Melinda Seckington, Technical Manager, FutureLearn

"Level Up: Developing Developers"

Melinda is a Technical Manager at FutureLearn, a social learning platform. She loves attending BarCamps, Hackdays and other tech meetups, and since 2009 has been organising them at Geeks of London. She also writes at MissGeeky, a blog about all things geeky and girly. This time Melinda will talk about how you can help level up your developers by using competencies and career development frameworks, what types of processes you can introduce to support personal development and how developers should be using opportunities like these to get a better understanding of what skills they should focus on.

• Lyline Lim, Engineering Program Manager, Algolia

"Grow through sharing - Engineering Managers & Co-development"

Lyline worked eleven years as an embedded software engineer in image processing. Passionated by communication and work organization she joined Algolia as an Engineering Program Manager. She now works on transverse programs aiming at continuously improving the engineering organization in terms of collaboration, engagement and operation.
During this TechLunch Lyline will give a talk about how engineering managers grow through sharing their challenges, experiences and advices during regular co-development sessions. This peer-coaching framework has been experienced for 3 months now and shows a high level of Return On Time Invested among our managers. After this talk you’ll be able to launch the same program in your own company. Let’s grow!
