TechRise #1 : The Power of Mentorship

We
are buzzing to announce the very first meetup for TechRise MCR! Our theme for the first event is going to be "The power of mentorship."

No matter where you are in your career, whether you're just starting out or have years of experience, having a great mentor on your side can be so valuable. Finding the right mentor and making the most out of the relationship can be challenging to navigate so that's why we've picked this for our first theme.

Our fantastic panel features people who have been both mentors and mentees and they will be sharing their diverse and honest experiences with the group. We'd love for some audience engagement as well!

I have included below the agenda, how to find the venue and all other key details!

Agenda

5:45pm - Doors open
5:45-6:30pm - food, drinks, networking
6:30-6:50pm- introduction to TechRise by our founder, Parul Singh
6:50-7:20pm - networking and comfort break
7:20-8:00pm - mentorship panel
8:00-9:00pm - networking till the event closes :)

We will probably nip to a local pub after, but there is no obligation to drink of course!

Gavin van Lelyveld (He/They) - Consultant Engineering Manager and Coach at Deconstructing Leadership

Venue and how to find us

The event will be hosted at DiSH, it can be tricky to find so if you pop "39 Lloyd Street, Manchester" into your maps it will take you to DiSH. It is pretty much across the road from MNKY HSE (postcode M2 5WA).

Before the event I will be updating a video taking you from the street right into the venue so you know exactly where to go and what it looks like so keep an eye on your emails from meetup :)

Food and drinks

Food will be provided at the beginning of the event around 6:00pm and you are welcome to munch away during the first talk so don't rush your food - I will have gaviscon at the ready in any case (guilty 🙋🏾‍♀️)

We'll have a good variety of drinks: soft drinks, diet drinks, wine, beer etc but please ensure you include any dietaries in the RSVP so we get the right amount of everything and you can eat the food we provide.

A safe space at TechRise

• Our community is absolutely a safe space for all, we will not tolerate harassment or discrimination in any form.
• If you need to report any issues please come and find Parul or contact her through the details at the bottom of this event page. We take reporting very seriously and this may result in a ban from the community or removal from our events.
• TechRise is a friendly and informal community so feel free to take a break from the session in the breakout space or duck out a little bit earlier if you need to. We're all here to support, encourage and embrace one another! ❤️
