In the last decade, technology has had a profound impact on the world around us. From the world economy to our social lives, and affecting the most disparate aspects of our private lives and society: from healthcare to the labour market to education.
Codam and The Student Hotel are hosting a 2-day fully virtual, live, and interactive Tech4Good Hackathon and Conference in Amsterdam on May 11 and 12, 2021, highlighting different uses of technology-centered around three different themes: Impact, Entrepreneurship, and Education.
During the conference day on May 12, there will be a mixture of keynote speeches, panels, and roundtable discussions focusing on technology's use in areas such as Impact, Entrepreneurship, and Education.
The hackathon on May 11-12 will feature challenges tackled by students from Codam, The Student Hotel, and students from the #42network from across the globe. The aim will be for students to co-create, under the supervision of experienced mentors, tech-powered solutions to some of the world's greatest social and environmental challenges.

On Tuesday may 12 we will have an interactive agenda, with interviews, panel discussions, and round tables, where we will explore how technology shapes our world and how it can be used to serve the planet and society for the better.

11:30 – 12:00: Where are we headed? How is technology affecting the evolution of mankind?
With the acceleration of fields such as AI, genome editing, biohacking, and more, are we leading ourselves to the singularity? Is there room for mankind to continue evolving once we get there?
Speaker: Shahar Graf. Shahar is on a mission to push forward purpose-driven business. With the Capital House agency, she aims to empower the entrepreneurs who are building a better future & create valuable connections amongst purpose-driven organisations.
11:30 – 12:00: How can we build a more diverse & inclusive tech?
Unconscious bias is something we all face everyday. It is something that is hard to pinpoint but can lead to harmful and dangerous situations when building tech platforms & products.
Speaker: Dale Wesdorp. Just your next door tech nerd. Trying to create impact by looking at the ethical responsibilities we carry as developers.
11:30 – 12:00: Humans vs machines: to what extent can tech replace the role of humans?
Advancements in technology allow the automation of processes in every industry, company and household, thereby creating a more efficient and connected world. For example, AI is reducing the need for human involvement in data processing. Considering the current status of tech, to what extent can technology replace the role of humans? Which tasks cannot be replaced by tech?
Speaker: Charlie Wulff. Rotterdam-based entrepreneur with who has learned from past failures and recently achieved some successes! Interested in humans and how tech will change our behaviour and our lives.
