• About
AltEd Hive is a relaxed, welcoming group for families exploring alternative approaches to education. It is a space where parents, carers and children come together to connect, chat, share stories and support one another, whether you are home educating, unschooling, flexi schooling, worldschooling or simply learning your own way.

Learning does not need a classroom. Just connect, share and grow.

• Who can join
AltEd Hive is open to anyone interested in alternative education. Whether you are just starting out, deep into your journey or simply curious, you are welcome here.

• What We'll Do
There is usually a loose agenda but you are welcome to bring your own topics. It is all about real conversations, open play and a sense of community. We also encourage discussions around life after childhood education, including career options, internships, volunteering and professional training.

While adults enjoy relaxed chats over drinks and snacks, children can make friends, socialise and be part of something fun and meaningful. We also support gentle networking to help children connect with others who share similar interests, ideas or paths.

• What to bring
Feel free to bring notebooks, sketchpads or anything you enjoy using to jot down ideas. You're also welcome to bring and share anything you're excited about — or anything that encourages connection, creativity or fun (think board games, card games, cool projects).

• Payment
AltEd Hive is free to join and open to everyone. We meet at Toast and Tomato Cafe, a lovely spot where you can enjoy drinks, snacks and hazelnut creations from Holnut, a small family run startup crafting exclusive hazelnut delights. While there is no charge to attend, we kindly encourage you to support the venue by purchasing something if you can. This helps keep the space available for us and allows the community to continue growing.
