Hands-on Workshop: Python for Beginners (PY000)

• What we'll do
Python is a great language to learn and use. It basically can be used to build almost anything.
To make your life easier, it offers many useful tools/libraries. Python is used for backend web development, data analysis, artificial intelligence, scientific computing and so on. Come and learn coding in Python with us.

This group (PY000) is for complete beginners and assumes no or limited knowledge of Python language. If you would like a bit more advanced sessions, check PY001 or PY010 workshop groups.

This workshop will cover the following topics:

• Intro to Python
• Strings, Numbers, Tuples, Lists, Dictionaries, etc.
• Conditions, Loops
• Building/Getting your Python Environment ready
• Building your first application/script

LOCATION:
ACU Collaborate Plus (http://www.acu.edu.au/collaborateplus) is ACU’s entrepreneurship hub for startups and small-medium sized enterprises (SMEs). ACU have hubs on the North Sydney & Strathfield campuses which provide a flexible, creative and inclusive area for students, staff, alumni, startups and SMEs who are working on an innovative startup, project or business idea. And is currently available at no fee! The project is supported by NSW Department of Industry’s Boosting Business Innovation grants.

The Collaborate Plus is in ACU building and about 8 mins walk from North Sydney station.

• What to bring
Laptop
Python 3.X installed beforehand would be good. If not, we'll help you during the session to install it.
