About us

TechFems started in November 2023 and has quickly grown into a community of over 900 women+ (including trans and non-binary).

We are an inclusive community for (aspiring) tech women+ in Barcelona and the surrounding area. All our activities are in person in Barcelona. TechFems provides a safe space for women+ to empower each other and grow together.

In a sector where women+ are by far the minority, TechFems offers a warm welcome and a supportive community for women and women-identifying people, full of learning, networking, and social activities.

The community owns the initiative: TechFems is for women+, by women+. If you are a woman(+) working (or studying to work) in the tech sector, or simply interested in knowing more, join us!

    🗣️Talks

1️⃣ From Chaos to Clarity: Building Your BI Platform
🎙️ Viktoriia Kniazeva, Technical Consultant at Omnevo
Many organizations accumulate multiple operational systems, each with its own data model, stack, and integration challenges — and BI often becomes an afterthought stitched on top. This session demonstrates how to design and implement a BI platform from scratch, unifying heterogeneous data sources into a reliable, scalable architecture. Based on hands-on experience with systems like Metabase, we examine patterns for creating clean data flows, ensuring trust, and building a foundation that analytics can grow on.
    Takeaways:
    • BI as Part of System Architecture: Why analytics needs to be architected—not improvised.
    • Data Flow Design: Structuring the path from operational systems to actionable insights.
    • What to prepare before starting a BI project — the key checks teams often forget

2️⃣ Dashboards, Data, and “Did It Work?” at Grafana
🎙️ Maria Dubinets, Senior Data Analyst at Grafana Labs.

Grafana builds industry-leading tools for observing infrastructure — but how does an observability company observe its own products? This talk explores how Product Data Analytics and Experimentation are structured at Grafana, from high-volume event ingestion to statistically rigorous A/B testing. It will unpack how Grafana’s modern data stack — powered by RudderStack, BigQuery, dbt, Prefect, OpenMetadata, and Grafana itself — creates a scalable, governed, and trustworthy source of product truth. The session will then dive into one of Grafana’s most intricate live product experiments that just finished: testing whether automatically surfacing our Interactive Learning Plugin inside Grafana Cloud increases adoption of Synthetic Monitoring and IRM by moving users from Activation to Engagement. Attendees will see how the experiment was designed, sized, instrumented, and analyzed — and what was learned once the results came in. The talk concludes with a preview of the next onboarding experiment focused on improving Day 2–14 engagement for new Cloud users.

    What Attendees Will Learn
    • 🏗️ How Grafana structures its product data stack
    • 📊 How dashboards evolve into decision systems
