AI, new challenges and why developers should care about ethics

Details

Everyone seems to be talking about ethics and the importance of applying ethics to AI and other emerging technologies.

But what do we mean when we talk about ethics?

For many, ethics is something abstract and subjective, impossible to implement.

For others, a buzzword that can be used to "sell stuff".

In this short presentation, Karin Rudolph will introduce some basic concepts to understand ethics in the context of technology, how to apply some principles to the lifecycle of a project and why developers should care about ethics.

About the speaker:

Karin Rudolph is the Founder of Collective Intelligence UK, a hub for ethical innovation with training and resources to help start-ups and SMEs to embed ethics in the design and development of technology. She has a degree in Sociology, studies in Philosophy and is a Data Ethics Facilitator. She is also the co-founder of the Tech Ethics Bristol Meetup, a community group of nearly 700 members.

The session will include a presentation followed by a Q&A / round table discussion where we hope you will share your ideas and experiences.
As ever, drinks and pastries will be provided - join us for a fun and informative session!
