Cloud computing is having a profound impact on the IT industry. With such growth and popularity, it is imperative for technology practitioners to understand what Cloud means, how it possibly can be deployed and what challenges it entails particularly from the perspective of integrating cloud based systems with on-premise systems. This one hour session will explore definitions of Cloud Computing, overview of cloud characteristics, the various cloud deployment models and service models. The session also covers how data is exchanged between cloud applications as well as the security challenges and risks associated with such applications.

Dr. Bipin Prabhakar is Chair of Information Systems Graduate Programs and a Clinical Professor of Information Systems at the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. Dr. Prabhakar’s teaching expertise is in the areas of Enterprise Systems, Digital Technology Architecture, Cloud Computing and Information Security. He teaches courses on ERP systems in the MS – Information Systems (MSIS) program core, the specialization tracks in Enterprise Systems and the graduate certificate program in ERP. He also teaches advanced information security classes for the Enterprise Risk Management specialization track in the MSIS Program. Dr. Prabhakar’s research interests are in the areas of technology adoption and the evolution of IS job skills.
BDPA is pleased to welcome Dr. Prabhakar to share his expertise and wisdom with BDPA members. Anyone, regardless of race or color, is welcome to attend!
