BDPA hosts ‘BDPA Cincinnati Speaker Series’ to collaborate with the vibrant community of like-minded technology professionals of color in our city. DevOps now is in its seventh year of practice but the old architecture is no longer able to support the speed of delivery and so needs the additional help of Microservices for incremental change. But adopting a new capability requires a plan that includes people, process and technology. Microservices architecture helps to deliver easy testing, fast deployments and overall agility. It’s also fairly complex—so to successfully implement Microservices, you need to understand the core concepts behind this approach.

Overcome culture and architecture challenges created when decomposing monolithic applications into Microservices-based applications. In this presentation, we’ll discuss why Microservices are key to decoupling your Monolith. How Microservices enhance your DevOps metrics. The basics of Microservices and how to convert a Monolith to Microservices using key principles such as domain driven design.

Our guest speaker is Mike Lively, DevOps Tech Lead and Scrum Master at Great American Insurance Company. Mike is also CSIS scholar, Project Manager/Captain USAF, Endowed Chair, Department Head PBSC, Director of Instructional Design NKU, Director of FTRC UC, Engineer Florida Public Service Commission, published Author, Toastmasters. Ph.D. “abd” Nuclear Physics, MS Physics, BA Mathematics, BSEE Electrical Engineer and BS Chemistry. Recent National BDPA talk was entitled, “DevOps, Zero to Sixty”.
