Topic: Playwright + AI: Teaching an Agent to Test Your App
Playwright has become a go-to framework for reliable end-to-end web testing, and it isn't just for JavaScript developers. This session covers Playwright's core concepts, including its architecture, locators, auto-waiting, and assertions, then puts them to work. We'll use the built-in recorder to generate tests and walk through the resulting code in both C# and TypeScript. We'll also let AI take the wheel: using the Playwright MCP server, an AI agent explores a live app and writes tests for you. To wrap up, we'll run tests in VS Code's Test Explorer, review reports and traces, and see how it all fits into a CI pipeline.
Presenter: James Allen
James is a software engineering manager at U.S. Bank, with a total of 18 years in software development. Based in Cincinnati, he brings a strong bias toward systems design, UX, practical process, pragmatic agile, and solving business problems. He's most interested in technology that makes teams more effective, not just more busy. Outside of work, James and his wife are navigating the adventure of raising a middle schooler. He's a retro gaming fan and convention regular who has never outgrown the urge to take things apart to see how they work.
