Tech Meetup Glasgow - March 2024

Details
Join us at Civic House, Glasgow on the first Thursday of each month for our free event featuring two talks on tech with soft drinks and pizza.
This month's talks:
✨ Speaker 1: Kyle Fenlon, Okay Junior - That’s Enough
“How my quarter life crisis led me into software development. The journey of a junior software developer in today’s market”
✨ Speaker 2: Samuel Agbede, LLMs: an overview and practical applications in podcasting
"Large language models (LLMs) like GPT-3 are revolutionizing AI capabilities. These models can generate human-like text and engage in dialogue, opening up exciting new possibilities for content creation.
In this talk, I will overview of practical applications of LLMs and their rapid development over the past few years. I will then dive into practical applications of this technology specifically for podcasting.
LLMs can help at multiple stages of the podcast pipeline - from ideation to generating show notes and highlights. They also have the potential to assist with research, coming up with interesting podcast ideas and guest questions. I will demo some hands-on examples of an LLM to showcase how they can aid podcast creators and discuss limitations.
Whether you're an existing podcaster looking to optimize your workflow or seeking creative ways to start a new show, this talk will showcase how LLMs can be a versatile assistant."

All are welcome and there is no requirement to have any level of tech knowledge or experience to attend, just a desire to learn. Come along (bring your friends), network and learn something new with us!
To make Glasgow's Tech Meetup welcoming for people joining for the first time we implement the PacMan Rule.
The rule is:
“When standing as a group of people, always leave room for 1 person to join your group.”
More memorably, stand like Pac-Man! You can learn more about this here.
