Details
The Irish Software Developers' Network are proud to bring you Itamar Syn-Hershko @synhershko (http://twitter.com/synhershko), Elasticsearch expert, RavenDB in Action author, and Apache Lucene committer.

Itamar is a frequent open-source contributor in general and an Apache Lucene.NET committer in particular. He is a search engine, database and architecture expert who really enjoys fiddling with data, texts especially, frequently finding himself working on databases or search engines. Or, by his own guilty pleasure, the combination of both!
Recently he has led a team at Israeli company Buzzilla, building a scalable search system and market research tools, and now works as a self-employed consultant and contractor.

Elasticsearch
Elasticsearch (http://www.elasticsearch.org/overview/elasticsearch) is a flexible and powerful open source, distributed, real-time search and analytics engine. Architected from the ground up for use in distributed environments where reliability and scalability are must haves, Elasticsearch can give you the ability to move easily beyond simple full-text search.
Using Apache Lucene under the cover to provide the powerful full text search capabilities, Elasticsearch is a great product – for search, for scale, for analyzing data, and much more. But sometimes you need to do something that is not supported by ‘out-of-the box’nElasticsearch, and that’s where plugins come into play.
Tonight, Itamar will explore the plugins land of Elasticsearch discussing the various ways Elasticsearch can be extended, and the range of plugins available to do that. By giving concrete examples and browsing the large selection of pre-made plugins, you will see how plugins can help overcome various challenges. Itamar will also discuss possible issues with plugins, and ways to work around them.
Finally, Itamar will explain the scenarios in which custom plugin development is necessary and can really save the day. By showing a demo of one such scenario, and the way we built and debugged a plugin to solve it, he will complete the picture of the Elasticsearch plugin land, and hopefully inspire you to create your own… Get On!
