Volunteer technologists supporting the Red Cross through the refugee crisis

Details

Dublin Web Summit Fringe Event: Limited Numbers - Members by Invite Only - Please RSVP.

The Irish Red Cross has become the first Red Cross ever to capture information about what every day citizens of a country are willing to donate to those in crisis (beyond money), including accommodation, support services and goods.

Please see: https://www.redcross.ie/registerofpledges/

As volunteer technologists we are supporting the Red Cross to develop this concept. We built a 34 language platform for data capture with simple back end for translations which we have made freely available to humanitarian organisations.

Please see: www.refugeebnb.com (http://www.refugeebnb.com/)

We are running a brain-storming session to assess the feasibility of further functional requirements that have been proposed by the Red Cross.

The skillsets that will be of assistance to the Red Cross are as follows:

  • Developers (Back End, Front End, API dev)

  • Analytics & Data Science skills (MySQL, Tableau, Search and Matching (Geo), Machine Learning)

  • Product/UX/Design/Content Strategy

  • People experienced managing global multi-language Websites

  • Marketing, Social Media

  • Humanitarians, Activists, Social/Community Workers, Journalists, Academics
