Developer Donuts: Dev and DevOps - pals forever!

Details

In many IT organizations, there's some confusion on the difference between development and DevOps. After all, DevOps is an amalgamation of development and operations. However, there is also an overlap between what DevOps engineers and developers do and who they are. In simple terms, developers are engineers skilled at programming application software and developing features for users. DevOps engineers automate processes to build, test and deploy applications, and maintain them in on-prem data centers or on cloud.

Though they are different, these two personas work together to help businesses achieve their transformation goals. Any developer can do DevOps, and DevOps should concentrate on development after automation. These roles are now blurring with the adoption of cloud computing services.

Agenda:

Further, the Speaker will take practical examples from Devtron, an open-source platform, which is democratizing the adoption of DevOps practices on Kubernetes.

Session 2 [6:15 PM - 7:00 PM]: Observe your apps using Elastic APM

About session: If your application is running slow, you should be the first person to know this instead of your users.

Application performance monitoring (APM) makes tracking down issues & problems much easier. Elastic APM helps to collect the traces, transactions, errors and span from your distribution platforms, microservices and allows centrally monitoring those data. It helps in finding RCA for DevOps & Developers and tracking down to the exact component where the problem occurred. In this talk we will check how elastic APM works and try to set up elastic APM on a small Golang Service
