How to become a Software Developer - (career advice, my story, Q&A)

Details
Hello and welcome! 😄
The aim of this webinar is to help you break into the technology industry and become a Software Developer / Engineer! I'm doing this webinar again to give people who missed the last one a chance to join.
This webinar is for you if you're interested in becoming a Software Engineer. You may be in a completely non-technical role in a non-technology company but it's possible to get the skills and knowledge to change careers and become a Software Engineer (I did it a few years ago!). You may be able to do it much more quickly than you realise.
Unlike careers such as lawyer, doctor, accountant etc there are many very different ways to become a software developer and some routes will suit you much better than others. Also, even roles with the same title (e.g. software developer or technical project manager) can have huge variation between them when it comes to skills required and salary. So it can be challenging for someone outside the industry to know where to begin and how to pick the right role and company for them, as well as know what to start learning.
I will be going over the topics in the agenda below. Feel free to just sit back and listen or type questions in the meeting "chat" that I will answer during the Q&A session at the end of the webinar.
Agenda for the webinar:
✅My story (going from recruiting software engineers to becoming one myself)
✅Your options (coding bootcamps, self-taught, university courses etc)
✅Picking the role & company for you
✅Is software development right for you? Consider other tech roles too.
✅CV/resume advice
✅Applications advice
✅Interview preparation
✅Q&A session
I also offer affordable 1-to-1 career advice (CV help, interview prep, career planning etc) so feel free to message me about this or book an initial call via the Fiverr freelancer platform here https://www.fiverr.com/share/ER0VVD.
About me (Andy, the organiser):
Before becoming a software engineer, I used to headhunt/recruit technology consultants and software engineers (mainly at very senior levels but also junior/mid-level) so I’ve reviewed literally thousands of CVs/LinkedIn profiles and spoken to lots of hiring managers about what they look for when hiring.
After speaking to hundreds of software engineers, I decided I wanted to become one myself. So that’s what I did…and it was one of the best decisions I ever made! After a couple of years, I recently left a large tech company to start two tech startups: wardconnect.co.uk and blenzen.com.
My LinkedIn (feel free to add me): https://www.linkedin.com/in/andymilton1/
Summary:
In this event, I’ll describe how I got into the technology industry and also tell you about other ways to break into the industry. You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions and will hopefully learn a lot!
See you soon!
Andy
