Peer Mentorship Program Kickoff

Details

Join us at Element Eatery on February 25th to kickoff Women Who Code Cincinnati's new Peer Mentorship Program!

The Peer Mentorship Program is a rotating four-month program designed to provide those in the Cincinnati area with the opportunity to network with and learn from other professionals. The program is open to people of all experience levels, from those just starting out in their careers to those who are looking to advance. Everyone has something to offer and there’s a lot you can learn from your peers.

## Program Structure

This program runs for four months at a time, and–besides the kickoff meeting sponsored by Women Who Code Cincinnati–it will be self-directed. The peer mentorship doesn’t focus on one person mentoring another. Instead this is intended to be a balanced relationship where everyone contributes. The program works like this:

  • The initial kickoff meeting will be in person and led by Women Who Code Cincinnati.
  • You will be put in small groups according to your level of experience and/or area of professional growth.
  • Your group will decide on the cadence, time, and place of your future meetings. You should aim for at least one get together a month either virtually or in person.
  • Your group will decide on the focus areas for each month. What you want to focus on, professional goals, specific areas of study, etc. It could be anything.
  • Your group should meet at least once a month to tackle your goals, learn from each other, and socialize.
  • At the end of the four month period your peer mentorship group will dissolve. This is so you have the opportunity to join another group at the next peer mentorship kickoff meeting.

Why you should attend:

  • Connect with and learn from local professionals.
  • Get guidance and support on a variety of career-related topics.
  • Networking is hard! This is a chance to build a network of professional contacts.
  • Increase your confidence level and self-awareness.
  • Gain leadership experience by guiding discussions and coaching others.

## Interested in Joining?

It’s completely free! We don’t require much, but before committing please make sure you’re available for at least one hour a month for the duration of the mentorship program.
