What we’re about
TechnoWise is a community of technology enthusiasts who are keen to explore better ways of engineering, testing and delivering software.
The community will share its software knowledge and wisdom through engaging talks, demos and hands-on workshops held on a frequent basis.
If you believe that building great software is a craft which keeps evolving, and as a craftsperson you must keep pace, then you'll love being part of TechnoWise.

Back in 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, companies struggled to adjust to the new mode of working. Confusion reigned, micromanagement was rife and team collaboration suffered.
However, some teams did remarkably well, pulling off some of the greatest architecture redesigns, in spite of the lack of regular check-ins that an office provides, in spite of the convenience of a whiteboard to ideate and collaborate.
At Technogise, we believe in building software that works well in the real world. A big part of this is to drive clarity and build collaboratively. A lot like the teams that thrived during the pandemic. We are a responsible group of technologists who believe in sharing what we have learnt, and with that in mind, we are conducting an Architecture Kata with a twist - the solution will have to be presented in an RFC format. Why?
How do you get to be good at anything? It’s important to know the theory and to understand the mechanics of the game you wish to play. It helps to have talent. But ultimately, greatness comes from practicing; applying your knowledge over and over again, and using feedback to get better every time.
Software development is not just about writing code, it’s about understanding the problem, its domain, and all the invariants and then coming up with a solution.
Dave Thomas created the concept of the “Code Kata” while watching his son at karate practice, and that turned out to be a popular concept: a series of exercises that programmers can attempt in a variety of different languages, as a way to help master the language.
Ted Neward asked
"So how are we supposed to get great architects, if they only get the chance to architect fewer than a half-dozen times in their career?"
That is how *Architecture Katas* were born. Out of a need to help people learn to design systems. What can you expect?
- A day full of collaboration and exchange of ideas
- Exploration of a structured way to present ideas and drive alignment.
- Learn how to conduct silent meetings in a group.
- Learn how to collaborate asynchronously.
Who will benefit from this?
Engineers with prior work experience in System Design / Budding Architects / Leads / Managers / Leadership. What do you need to bring to the event?
You’ll need a laptop/tablet to create the RFC. Apart from that your team can whiteboard the solution before presenting it.Schedule
