Mike Deeds, Director of Hardware Engineering at Cardinal Peak

Mike Deeds’s technical background is in embedded systems hardware and software design, including FPGA and ASIC design. He has significant expertise in engineering project management and product definition and architecture. Prior to joining Cardinal Peak in 2008, Mike was on the technical staff at MobilePeak Systems, where he was involved in the design of a 3G wireless user terminal. Earlier in his career he worked at Precision Photonics and Qualcomm. He holds an MS in electrical engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a focus on computer architecture and a BS in electrical engineering from Marquette University.

Kate Bethurem, Director of Business Development at Cardinal Peak

Cardinal Peak is an engineering design services company specializing in IoT, as well as audio and video. Cardinal Peak has more than 70 engineers who are expert consultants consulting in IoT, FPGAs, digital communications, digital entertainment, cloud computing, mobile application development, and embedded hardware and software. Kate joined Cardinal Peak with more than 20 years in the engineering field. She has experience as an embedded hardware designer, program manager, consultant and manufacture’s sales rep. She has spent her career helping companies develop products from concept to production.

Jay Andersen, Principal at Eastside Consulting

Jay is a seasoned executive with broad and diverse global experience in leading
organizations in exceeding their revenue and profitability targets. He has close to thirty-five years of experience in working in IoT, Security, Communications, Cloud,
Manufacturing and the embedded software space. Jay most recently was VP of Global Sales & Services for Spectralink. Prior to that he was VP of Global Professional Services at Wind River (subsidiary of Intel and part of IoT Group), was in an executive role for Nexergy and was with Motorola for close to 27 years in executive leadership positions both domestically and internationally. Jay holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from the University of Northern Colorado.

Callie Wentling, Director for Business Development at Boulder Engineering Studio

Callie manages new projects from client intake through the structuring of a project's development strategy (Discovery), which identifies critical production specifications (based on critical functionality and aesthetics, manufacturing approaches, certifications and standards, etc.) and establishes program expectations for device features, development time and cost, as well as projected production expenses.

Their team consists of industrial designers, graphic artists, and engineers who carry out creative product execution and branding for companies in need of better performing products with a creative edge. Today, Chelsea continues to grow Curio, as well as create local events that encourage the growth of Boulder's startup and maker community.
