TechSpot: Observability meetup

Details
π Hey tech enthusiasts, welcome to the TechSpot: Observability meetup!
Observability is essential for understanding your distributed system behavior. We invite you to examine its various aspects β including monitoring, tracing, logging, and more β to delve deeper into how to identify issues before they impact users.
π Join us on March 16 at HubHub for an evening filled with insightful talks, networking opportunities, and of course snacks and drinks!
In addition to the presentations from observability experts, we decided to spice up our meetups with a talk on what bothers engineers in their daily life. Let's have a discussion!

DETAILS ON TALKS
1οΈβ£ "From Kubernetes Out Of Kubernetes Observability" β Viktor Farcic, Developer Advocate at Upbound
Now that the industry is moving towards extending Kubernetes to manage more and more of the infrastructure, services, and applications running outside Kubernetes itself, it is becoming obvious that we need to have a holistic view of the entire system. We need control planes that will provide not only management but also observability to the whole system.
This talk will discuss the concepts of control planes and data planes, and how they are used to manage the lifecycle of infrastructure, applications, and services, and how we can apply observability to such resources.
Through a practical demo, we'll see how we can combine Crossplane's ability to manage any type of resources with Kubernetes events, Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, and a few other tools to provide a holistic view of the entire system.
2οΈβ£ "Full stack Observability and Application Monitoring with AWS" β Sergey Kurson, Solutions Architect at AWS
What is Observability in AWS, how our code is instrumented, why do you need canaries, what to look at, how do we build data-driven decisions and organize processes. These questions are imperative for a mature system. Learn how we approach observable complex systems. We also will use an observable app and its key parts for the demonstration.
**3οΈβ£ "House of glass: how we are losing our privacy" β Yahor Chuchvaga, Backend Lead at 3DWay.io**
In the modern world, privacy is gradually decreasing, even in democratic countries. This is happening along two directions:
1. The development of new technologies and algorithms for collecting and processing data;
2. Changes in the legal field, including new laws and projects that increase opportunities to invade people's private spheres.
In this talk, we will take a close look at how exactly these two directions evolve. After the presentation you will be invited discuss what we can do about these processes, and whether we can do anything about it at all. Spoiler: no.
π€ We warmly welcome Developers, Architects, Team Leads, DevOps engineers, and other specialists interested in distributed systems building. Join us!
