Scrum patterns | 'A Scrum book' meetup #2

Scrum community experts have been collecting these secrets for years, and working together to write them down as patterns. One of the inventors of Scrum, Jeff Sutherland, now uses them as a central part of his training and of describing Scrum. Come and learn how to use them and what they mean to your organisation, and how you can use them to chart a powerful new direction of kaizen for your Scrum team!

Scrum patterns meetup is an immersive collaborative experience. We expect you to work in a team and learn patterns together. You’ll need a computer to access Mural (online collaboration space) and Zoom (video conferencing tool). You don’t need to buy “A Scrum book”, links to Scrum patterns are going to be provided. The meetup duration is about 1 hour, we start at 7:00 pm (SGT) sharp.

We continue our exploration of Scrum Patterns! The topic of the upcoming meetup is velocity. A concept that has inspired so many debates, and has been used so wrongly. So let’s dot the i’s and cross the t’s using velocity-related Scrum Patterns – “Running Average Velocity”( http://scrumbook.org/value-stream/running-average-velocity.html), “Aggregate Velocity”( http://scrumbook.org.datasenter.no/value-stream/product-backlog/aggregate-velocity.html) and “Updated Velocity” (http://scrumbook.org.datasenter.no/value-stream/estimation-points/updated-velocity.html).

A couple of changes that have been introduced since our past event to make the experience more engaging:

What will it look like?
We’ll start with quick networking to get acquainted with each other. Then there will be a short crash course to Scrum patterns and some topic-related concepts. After that we’ll break into smaller groups and explore the patterns and prepare a sharing for the rest of the participants. We discuss and exchange our experience of what we’ve used or missed in our work. Pdfs with a slide deck and mural space will be distributed among the participants after the event.

Who should join?
Scrum Masters, Agile coaches, anyone with some experience in Scrum and willing to learn more is welcome.

Session outcomes
People joining will get a deeper understanding of the Scrum patterns: how to fix broken Scrum, use in retrospectives, plan Scrum adoption, and will also learn from other people's experiences.
