Unleashing Your Potential: The Power of Grit and Fear-Defying Strategies

Details

Hey TED-Head Pros!

Welcome to our upcoming Meetup next Wednesday! Are you ready to learn about the power of perseverance and how to overcome your fears We have two incredible TED Talks to share with you that will inspire and motivate you to take action towards your goals.

In "Grit: The power of passion and perseverance", Angela Lee Duckworth shares her research on what makes successful people stand out from the rest. She explores the importance of resilience, determination, and hard work, and how these traits can help you achieve your goals.

Meanwhile, in "Why you should define your fears instead of your goals", Tim Ferriss challenges conventional wisdom by suggesting that instead of focusing on setting goals, we should identify and tackle our fears head-on. He explains how doing so can help us gain confidence and achieve the success we desire.

By watching these two TED Talks before joining us, you'll gain a deeper understanding of how to cultivate grit and overcome your fears, and you'll be ready to contribute to everyone from your own experience and understanding. So don't miss out on this opportunity to learn and grow!

Please watch the following 2 talks on your own device before the event. Have a watch, compare the videos, and bring insights and questions along to the conversation.

Talk #1: Grit: The power of passion and perseverance

Leaving a high-flying job in consulting, Angela Lee Duckworth took a job teaching math to seventh graders in a New York public school. She quickly realized that IQ wasn't the only thing separating the successful students from those who struggled. Here, she explains her theory of "grit" as a predictor of success.

Talk # 2: Why you should define your fears instead of your goals

The hard choices -- what we most fear doing, asking, saying -- are very often exactly what we need to do. How can we overcome self-paralysis and take action? Tim Ferriss encourages us to fully envision and write down our fears in detail, in a simple but powerful exercise he calls "fear-setting." Learn more about how this practice can help you thrive in high-stress environments and separate what you can control from what you cannot.

Please note the following:
We want to provide a space for professionals who are curious about life, enjoy TED Talks, and want to share their findings with others. Please join us as we consider this topic, Wednesday, March 15 at 7:00pm.

Newcomers are most welcome! Hoping to see you there.
(Please sign up only if you really intend to attend).

We'll have a great conversation and then figure out what each of us would like to commit to doing over the next month.

Let's get better together!

Cheers,
Dustyn
