TEDxHannoverSalon: "Coded bias & DNA Ancestry"

Details

Dear TEDies,

This time we will rediscover an old mystery with a new digital dimension: the ancestry coded into our genes and culture.

Modern technologies like face detection use our inherited identity to make digital predictions - and they do inherit our human prejudices. Discrimination and bias can and do exist in artificial intelligence, so let’s find out how an unfair reality and an ideal prediction fit together.

Did you know that if two sisters take the same DNA test, the result could be that one is 10% French and the other 0%? Seems like our genes have a hard time, too, to identify where we belong to ;)

Agenda:

  • 18:45-19:00 Check-in (Tech-Check, Social Networking & Admissions to Event Room)
  • 19:00-20:30 TED Talks and Discussions
  • 20:30 Social "Fade-out"

The Zoom Conference link will appear a few hours prior to the event in the Location section.

We are looking forward to hosting you again!
