What: Tracy leads the Armchair Adventure Book Club. At the December book club meeting (Tuesday, Dec 30), we will be discussing Fire in the Sky, a nonfiction book written by Arizona native Travis Walton. Attendees may read the book OR watch the movie (or both). About the movie: "Fire in the Sky" ws directed by Robert Lieberman and adapted by Tracy Tormé, based on Travis Walton's book Fire in the Sky, which describes his abduction experience. The film stars D. B. Sweeney as Walton, and Robert Patrick as his best friend and future brother-in-law, Mike Rogers. James Garner, Craig Sheffer, Scott MacDonald, Henry Thomas and Peter Berg also star.
The film is about logger Travis Walton's abduction experience, and also about this friends (fellow loggers) who witnessed his abduction. The film portrays the real-life experiences of Travis and his friends as they dealt with a skeptical public and press.
Fire in the Sky was nominated for four Saturn Awards: Best Science Fiction Film, Best Writing, Best Music, and for Patrick, Best Actor.
Anyone can come to the watch party, even if they aren't planning to go to the book club meeting. And anyone who wants to go to the book club meeting can watch the movie OR read the book (or both) on their own, without going to this watch party.
Note that this event is not a potluck dinner. The event is NOT planned as a dinner. But the host will provide pizza, popcorn and drinks. Guests are welcome to bring any type of food or snack they want to share. This is completely optional
