What: Tracy leads the Armchair Adventure Book Club. At the August book club meeting (Wednesday, August 29), we will be discussing the novel Hamnet, written by Maggie O'Farrell. Attendees may read the book OR listen to the audio book OR watch the 2025 feature film adaptation (or do more than one). The 2025 feature film adaptation of Hamnet was directed by GarthChloé Zhao Jennings. The film stars Jessie Buckley, Paul Mescal, Jacobi Jupe, Emily Watson, Joe Alwyn and Noah Jupe.
The film was nominated for eight Academy Awards.
The film dramatises the family life of William Shakespeare and his wife Agnes Hathaway as they cope with the death of their 11-year-old son Hamnet.
Anyone can come to the watch party, even if they aren't planning to go to the book club meeting. And anyone who wants to go to the book club meeting can watch the movie OR read the book (or both) on their own, without going to this watch party.
Guests are welcome to bring any type of food or snack they want to share. This is completely optional. The host will be providing a complete baked potato bar with toppings. And popcorn.
