Full Title of Event:
Is Learning Languages Still Relevant Today? A Potluck Conversation With Terry Hsieh and his Language Friends

Free event!

Great News! Your hobo linguist friend Terry is back in town!

Hello Tempe Neighborhood potluckers, Terry is back in town. He'd like to invite everyone to join a conversation event to discuss whether learning is still relevant today. Join Terry and some of his polyglot linguist friends for a fascinating discussion about language learning and linguistics in the era of A.I.

A native of Taiwan, but now a resident of the Tempe/Phoenix area, Terry's work and research takes him all over the world. When he is in town, it is a rare and wonderful treat when he hosts an event and talks about his latest adventures.

About the Event Host:

Terry Chih-Hsiang Hsieh is a Taiwanese polyglot and an activist for the indigenous languages of Taiwan and the world. He has authored and co-authored four books on language acquisition and teaching methodology. Currently, he serves as the CEO of Polyglot.tw and as an advisor at the Indigenous Language Research and Development Foundation.

A self-described “linguistic digital nomad,” Terry has traveled to more than 100 countries and territories to study languages. He speaks over 50 languages at varying levels of proficiency.

What to Bring: Guests may bring any type of food. Enough to feed about 10 to 12 people. Bring a main dish, salad, side dish, etc. When you RSVP, we encourage you to specify what you will bring, so that others who RSVP can see what foods are on the list, and so that we can have a more balanced meal. You can always change your mind about what you are bringing.
