Meeting Time: 2:00 PM
Meeting Place: Kiosk beside Couchville Lake
Hike Distance: About 1 mile
Estimated Time: 90 minutes
Difficulty: Easy
Hike Leader: Ranger Leslie
Summer is here, so let's find some water! Join Ranger Leslie to explore a sinkhole that has become a pond. We'll take a short hike to search for frogs and fish and insects that have made it their home.
Wear old clothes and shoes, and be prepared to get dirty! Pets are not permitted because we want to find some critters.
The sinkhole has some exposed rocks and roots, but participants will not be wading in the water. We will be using small nets along the shore which will be wet and slippery. There are a few large rocks for a seating area for those who wish to observe.
No pets, please.
Note: We're posting this event here to give Meetup members first dibs. The hike is limited to the first 12 people who sign up on the park website. Once the event is full, the park website will say "Sold Out" and won't allow anymore signups. Thank you!
Directions:
Enter Long Hunter State Park at the main park entrance (2910 Hobson Pike) and then take the first left (which is the Couchville Lake Area) and proceed to the parking lot beside Couchville Lake.
